Thabametsi Farm is a tranquil rustic self-catering family getaway in the heart of scenic Magaliesburg. Situated on a 132Ha farm, Thabametsi is nestled between two koppies overlooking the valley to the Witwatersrand Mountains. This malaria-free location assures guests of beautiful sunsets and great hospitality.

The diverse ecosystem encourages a wide range of bird life, particularly on the dam. Smaller animals like bush buck, cerval, caracal,  itinerant warthog, scrub hares, mongoose and squirrels have made Thabametsi their home.

There are various activities for those who wish to burn off excess energy but if it's relaxation that you need, a shady spot under the trees is just the place to contemplate, read or sit and listen to the chattering of the birds.

The accommodation is very comfortable with good quality beds, generous down duvets, and either electric blankets or hot water bottles. 

Activities include swimming, bird-watching, various ball games and nature walks. Canoeing & fishing in the dam or mountain biking are some of the attractions for the more active.

Thabamesti Farm offers family orientated accommodation therefore children are welcome. This is a true farm stay experience with Mojo the pig, Heidi & Munchkin the goats, Cha-cha the pony, ducks, chickens and turkeys for the children to feed. A jungle gym, pony rides and even a ride in a trailer pulled by a tractor are available.

We specialise in family accommodation, but the two bungalows are also ideal for groups of to 12 people and Owl Cottage in particular is ideal for a romantic stay for two.

Indoor fireplaces and heaters cater for cosy winter nights whilst summer evenings are braai-time in the lovely bomas under the stars. 

If you feel the need to be pampered , child minding by very friendly, competent staff are on hand and massages and romantic dinners can be arranged. Breakfast,by arrangement, is on offer for the cottages only. We have SABC 123 and 4 and get the best reception from Vodacom with certain areas where you can get MTN coverage.

Thabametsi is an ideal venue for families, photographers, artists, environmentalists and small groups.  Our accommodation is not ideal for people in wheelchairs as the units have steps to negotiate access.
